Port of Ludington Maritime Museum

Mason County Historical Society – Ludington, Michigan

Curation, including research, writing, image, and artifact selection, design and fabrication of all exhibits, including technology exhibits, for this new museum in the renovated Coast Guard Station in Ludington. LvH also provide all interior design service.

About the Museum: LvH is in design development stages of the for the development of a new maritime museum in the National Historic Landmark, 1934 Coast Guard Building in Ludington for the Mason County Historical Society (MCHS). Ownership of the station has been transferred from the Coast Guard to the City of Ludington. The museum will interpret the rich history of the carferries, Coast Guard, and Commercial harbor and will include thirty different exhibits and 32 interactive technogy events including a replica pilothouse of the Pere Marquette 22 which visitors can pilot into Ludington set in the 1930s. An exterior heritage trail is also in development.
